Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network Foundation has selected 20 female college students to receive a total of $100,000 in scholarships through the CREW Network Foundation Scholarship Program this year. CREW Detroit is pleased to announce that local graduate student Augusta Gudeman, University of Michigan, is among the recipients!
Augusta was motivated to submit the scholarship application after participating in CREW Detroit’s UCREW event at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business last September.
The scholarship program supports future female leaders as they pursue university-level education that will lead to careers in commercial real estate. Each scholar will receive $5,000 for tuition and books, a paid internship opportunity during the summer of 2019, a complimentary 18-month CREW Network student membership, and a complimentary registration to the 2018 CREW Network Convention and Marketplace, Oct. 17-19 in San Diego, California.
Meet our local Recipient
Gudeman credits her interest in commercial real estate to the combination of her training in social science, policy, and planning. She has worked as a consultant in the weather satellite division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Washington DC and previously with the City of Ann Arbor (Michigan) to promote equity in water rates. Gudeman has also supported regional planning at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and researched housing policy for Global Detroit, an immigrant advocacy non-profit. She particularly values commercial real estate’s relationship to land use policy and its potential for improving equity in society. Upon graduating in May, she hopes to work in the local public sector working at the intersection of economic development and sustainability in Los Angeles, Detroit, or Chicago.
